Moshav Agur was originally settled in 1948 by immigrants from Kurdistan. The Jewish Agency helped the newcomers set up agricultural ventures such as chicken coops, and turkey and livestock farming. Over the years, some people left or closed their farms. During the last decade, Agur has seen renewed interest by city people who wish to experience country life in pastoral surroundings. These newcomers to Agur are establishing bed and breakfast guesthouses, wineries, ceramics studios, etc. This outside interest in their moshav has awakened the local folk who, as a consequence, have started to spruce up their properties and take greater pride in their surroundings.
