Wine route in Galilee, Israel

Wine Route in Galilee, Israel

Wine Route in Galilee, Israel

The Upper Galilee region in Israel is rich in culinary adventures — from wine tasting, to cheese sampling, and berry picking. Tour boutique wineries, alongside larger ones which already export their well-reviewed products abroad.

For a complete overview of the wine industry in Israel, we highly recommend the book The Ultimate Rogov’s Guide to Israeli Wines.

The book was published just before the eminent Israel wine maven, Daniel Rogov, passed away, with his latest research and tastings of Israel’s growing list of fine boutique wineries.

Taste fruit of the vine and sample the wine tastings!

Go Israel: Galilee Foods

Galilee Rustic Eatery, Israel

Galilee Rustic Eatery, Israel

On a recent foray north to the Galilee region of Israel, we planned a route that included culinary delights. At En Kammonim Goat Cheese Farm, a charming rustic restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, the menu was composed entirely of local sustainable selections.

A cheese platter of goat cheeses straight from this Galilee farm’s dairy was presented on a wood cheese board, along with home baked bread. The large vegetable salad was composed of garden-grown cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce and other yummy greens, reds and purples. Fresh lemonade squeezed from the locally grown citrus was refreshing and puckery (my word) at the same time.

Oh, and jugs of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon magically appeared on our rustic tabletop, followed by cafe au lait and espresso, or fresh mint tea – with home baked cookies.

Rural magic was provided by the resident peacock.

Your Israel trip created by the Drive-Israel team always includes gastronomic delights and culinary goodies for foodies.

Go Israel!

Visit the ancient town of Safed to learn about Kabalah and Jewish mysticism. Continue into the Galilee to tour and taste wines made from orchard-grown pomegranates.

Red ripe pomegranates, high in anti-oxidants, are a treat for the palate. Pure pomegranate oil, a by product of the wine making process, is sold as a cosmetic oil.

Experience Jerusalem

Where can you find a lake with ducks, swans and fish in desert-dry Jerusalem?
Check out the Botanical Gardens, part of the Hebrew University, but open to the public daily, located near the Givat Ram campus of the university.

Remember those adorable choo-choo trains? Well, hop aboard on this orange and green little engine and wind your way through the gardens. At the end of your visit, settle down at the lakeside Cafe Cafit for Italian espresso – and an order of gelato for the kids. While you sip and sun, the little ones can feed the black-feathered swans and gold carp.
